The indoor temperature and humidity sensors were placed in the living room and in one of the bedrooms (see Figure 5.35). The outdoor temperature sensor was located at a sheltered position on the balcony. The sensors (Tinytags) were installed on 31 January and were removed on 28 February 2001; data were recorded every 30 minutes. The detailed monitoring of energy use in the house was carried out from 10 to 23 February 2001. The temperature profiles are shown in Figure 5.36. During this period the average ambient temperature was 11.3ºC and the mean indoor temperature 19.9ºC.

N: 1. The Outdoor Sensor should be mounted on the north side of the building, out of direct sunlight,
and in a place that is protected from direct rain and snow. Mounting the sensor under an eave of a roof or under an overhang of a building is recommended.
