N: 1. textile (n): 1620s, from Latin textilis “a web, canvas, woven fabric, cloth, something woven,” noun use of textilis “woven, wrought,” from texere “to weave,” from PIE root teks- “to make” (see texture (n.)). As an adjective from 1650s.
silo (n): 1835, from Spanish silo, traditionally derived from Latin sirum (nominative sirus), from Greek siros “a pit to keep corn in.” “The change from r to l in Spanish is abnormal and Greek siros was a rare foreign term peculiar to regions of Asia Minor and not likely to emerge in Castilian Spain” (Barnhart). Alternatively, the Spanish word is from a pre-Roman Iberian language word represented by Basque zilo, zulo “dugout, cave or shelter for keeping grain.” Meaning “underground housing and launch tube for a guided missile” is attested from 1958.
2. In high demand systems of biomass as boiler feeding or in power plants, it is necessary to use silos for temporary storage of biomass.
Such silos are different from conventional structures, which typically are used for storage of grain.
The silos for biomass are manufactured with special materials, are installed according to utilization project and use techniques and equipment suitable for feeding and extraction of stored biomass.
